SAO PAULO/STARNBERG, July 20, 2025
Peru’s Lucciana Pérez Alarcón capped off a perfect week at the Brasil Tennis Classic by clinching both the singles and doubles titles at the ITF World Tennis Tour W35 event held at Esporte Clube Pinheiros in SaoPaulo.
In Sunday’s singles final, Pérez Alarcón overcame Argentina’s María Florencia Urrutia 7-6(7), 6-3 in a tightly contested battle. With the victory, the 2023 Roland Garros junior finalist earned 35 WTA Ranking points and a prize of $4,612. It marked her second straight title on Brazilian soil, following her triumph in Rio Claro the previous week. With 70 points accumulated across both tournaments, the 20-year-old is projected to rise 35 spots to No. 401 in the WTA rankings.
“I don’t really focus on the rankings, but of course the higher I go, the easier it gets to enter bigger tournaments,” said Pérez Alarcón. “I’m really happy with these 70 points.”
Currently competing for Texas A&M University in the U.S. collegiate circuit, Pérez Alarcón was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Year in 2024. Now on summer break, she is using the opportunity to gain valuable experience and ranking points on the pro tour.
In addition to her singles success, Pérez Alarcón also claimed the doubles crown, earning an additional $1,782 in prize money. She now heads home to Peru for a brief rest before continuing her South American swing in Argentina, followed by a stretch of tournaments in Poland.
“I’m very happy with this week, it was perfect,” she said. “Two titles, and I’m so grateful to everyone who makes these tournaments possible. They are very important for us South American players.”
