SAN MARINO/STARNBERG, July 20, 2025
Slovakia’s Lukas Klein delivered a near-flawless performance to win the 32nd edition of the Internazionali di Tennis San Marino Open, an ATP Challenger 125 event with €181,250 in prize money. In Sunday’s final at the clay courts of Centro Cassa di Risparmio di Montecchio, Klein defeated Croatia’s Dino Prizmic 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 28 minutes to lift his fourth ATP Challenger career trophy.
Under the watchful eyes of San Marino’s Captains Regent, Denise Bronzetti and Italo Righi, World No. 186 Klein completed a perfect week by outplaying fifth seed Prizmic, the 20-year-old rising star from Split. Klein’s win was built on a series of impressive victories throughout the tournament, including upsets over top seed Harold Mayot, No. 7 Lukas Neumayer, and third seed Matteo Gigante in the semifinal.
The 27-year-old Slovakian, who hadn’t won a Challenger title since Ortisei, Italy in late 2023, used his flat groundstrokes to take time away from the younger Prizmic and neutralize the Croatian’s aggressive game. After exchanging early breaks in the opening set, Klein found his rhythm and broke again at 4-3 before closing out the set with a love hold.
Prizmic, who claimed Challenger titles earlier this year in Zagreb and Bratislava and reached the final in Milan, struggled to find his sharpness. Klein capitalized with an early break in the second set and maintained control throughout. Even when Prizmic threatened to break back at 3-4, Klein held firm, fending off pressure with confident serving and precise shot-making.

With the win, Klein earns 125 ATP Ranking points, which will propel him 40 spots up the rankings to around No. 146. The Slovak was full of praise for the tournament and its atmosphere:
“It’s been a fantastic week,” said Klein during the trophy ceremony, where he was presented the title by San Marino’s Secretary of State for Sport, Rossano Fabbri. “The crowd support was amazing, and the energy on court was something special. This title means a lot to me—San Marino will always have a place in my heart. I really hope to come back next year.”
