Marco Trungelliti is king in Kigali once again. Two years after his first triumph at the Rwanda Challenger, the 36-year-old Argentine returned to the top of the podium of the ATP Challenger clay-court event. The No. 1 seed rallied from a set down to overcome eighth-seeded Italian Marco Cecchinato 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.

Trungelliti withstood seven aces and broke his rival’s serve six times to seal victory in one hour and 57 minutes.

By lifting his seventh Challenger career trophy, the world No. 132 pocketed $26,130 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.

The Rwanda Challenger 2 offered a total prize pool of $177,000 and was hosted by the Iprc Kicukiro Tennis Club in Kigali. The capital of Rwanda is one of the cleanest and fastest-growing cities in Africa. Located in the heart of the country and built across a series of rolling hills, Kigali is known for its modern infrastructure, green surroundings, and strong focus on sustainability.

The city serves as Rwanda’s political, economic, and cultural center, hosting government institutions, international organizations, and a rapidly developing business scene. Kigali is also an important hub for tourism, with attractions such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial and easy access to national parks famous for mountain gorillas.
