CORDENONS/STARNBERG, August 10, 2025
Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic is the champion of the 22nd edition of the Internazionali del Friuli Venezia Giulia – Acqua Maniva/Serena Wines 1881 Tennis Cup, an ATP Challenger 75 event held in Cordenons, Italy. The 35-year-old from Belgrade, seeded No. 2, defeated fourth seed Lukas Neumayer of Austria 6-2, 7-6(3) in Sunday’s final, completing the week without losing a single set.
Coached by José Perlas but accompanied this week by fitness trainer Max Tosello, Lajovic stamped his authority early in the final. The two-time ATP Tour titlist and former ATP Cup champion with Serbia broke in the opening game and cruised through his service games with ease. A second break in the seventh game sealed the first set 6-2.
Neumayer, 23, started the second set stronger, using his wide serve to trouble Lajovic and breaking ahead. Lajovic hit back with a stylish drop shot to break in the fifth game, only for Neumayer to immediately respond and level at 3-3, sending the Centre Court crowd at SerenaManiva into full voice.
The Austrian upped the pressure, moving ahead 5-3 and earning four set points to force a decider. But he failed to convert, allowing Lajovic to break back and level at 5-5. In the tiebreak, Neumayer led 2-0 before Lajovic shifted gears, reeling off points quickly to seal the match 7-3 in the breaker.
