CHIASSO/STARNBERG, January 27, 2026
After an outstanding edition on court, the Axion Open Chiasso has added the perfect finishing touch off it. For the second time in three years, the tournament has been recognised as one of the best ITF events worldwide, reaffirming its status as a benchmark on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
Following the first award received in 2023, the International Tennis Federation has once again honoured the Axion Open based on the 2025 edition. The recognition was granted for the tournament’s full compliance with organisational requirements and the excellent evaluations it received from both players and the ITF supervisor. The assessment covers every aspect of the event, from services and infrastructure quality to the professionalism and expertise of the organising staff.
There is great satisfaction among tournament director Matteo Mangiacavalli and the many volunteers who, year after year, dedicate passion and commitment to ensuring the event’s success. The Axion Open is already confirmed on the calendar for 2026 and will take place from 20 to 26 April on the courts of Tennis Club Chiasso.
“This award gives an added and very special value to the work carried out by everyone involved,” said Mangiacavalli. “The success of the Axion Open is a collective success. Receiving another recognition just two years after the previous one allows us to further consolidate the quality we are able to offer, both to the players — the true protagonists of the tournament — and to the public, which continues to grow year after year.”
He also underlined that preparations for the next edition are already underway, with several new projects and ideas in development, while remaining faithful to a concrete and realistic approach. Mangiacavalli concluded by dedicating the award to all sponsors, led by title sponsor Axion Swiss Bank, to everyone involved in the organisation, and to Swiss Tennis, which has supported the project since its very first edition.
