Andrea Collarini of Argentina and Italian Franco Agamenone will compete in Saturday’s singles final of the AAT Challenger edición TCA, being played on the clay courts of the Tenis Club Argentino in Buenos Aires.

Collarini rallied past fifth-seeded Peruvian Juan-Pablo Varillas 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the stage of the last four on Saturday. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 50 event overcame a slow start, broke his rival four times and won two points more to prevail after two hours and 18 minutes.

Several months ago, Collarini decided to add Carlos Berlocq to his coaching staff, and Berlocq is accompanying him this week at the TCA. “Since I had been traveling alone and doing well, I thought I’d try working with a coach to see if I could reach a higher level,” he explained, having competed without a team in recent years.

“He’s pushing me a lot on every single point. Sometimes I feel like I’m already at my limit, and he asks for even more to keep raising that limit,” Collarini said.

Two of Collarini’s ATP Challenger Tour titles came on home soil in 2024, at the AAT Challengers in San Miguel de Tucuman and Santa Fe. The Argentine also closed the 2025 season on a high note, finishing as runner-up at the Florianopolis Challenger in Brazil, and has now claimed seven wins in his last eight matches.

Agamenone beat Dellien

Agamenone knocked off No. 4 seed Murkel Dellien of Bolivia 6-4, 7-5. The 32-year-old, who was born in Argentina, sent down four aces and won 66 per cent of his first-service points to advance in one hour and 52 minutes.

Collarini and Agamenone will meet for the fifth time with the Italian leading their head-to-head series 3-1.
