Lucía Cortez Llorca And Iñaki Montes Crowned Spanish National Champions

Lucía Cortez Llorca and Iñaki Montes de la Torre were crowned Spanish National Tennis Champions on Saturday at the Sporting Club de Tenis de Valencia, defeating Ángela Fita Boluda and Carlos López Montagud in the respective finals.

From the semifinals through to the championship matches, all encounters were broadcast live on Teledeporte, giving national visibility to the decisive stages of the tournament.

In the Campeonato de España Iberdrola de Tenis Absoluto Femenino, Lucía Cortez edged past Ángela Fita in a thrilling three-set final, winning 6–4, 4–6, 7–5 to claim the title. The victory marked the successful return of the women’s championship after a seven-year absence.

Cortez reached the final by defeating Madrid’s Raquel González Vilar 6–2, 6–2 in the semifinals, while Fita secured her place with a 6–3, 6–4 win over Celia Cerviño of Pontevedra. The quarterfinal stage saw the elimination of Charo Esquiva and Judith Perelló (Alicante), Lorena Solar (Málaga), and Aliona Bolsova (Girona).

The women’s doubles title went to Aliona Bolsova and Celia Cerviño, who defeated Cortez and Ansón 6–3, 6–1 in the final.

In the Campeonato de España MAPFRE de Tenis Absoluto Masculino, Iñaki Montes de la Torre overcame early issues with his right shoulder to defeat Carlos López Montagud 7–5, 6–4, sealing the national title in straight sets.

Seeded seventh, Montes had previously beaten Valencia-born Venezuelan Ignacio Parisca Romera 5–7, 6–3, 6–1 in the semifinals. López Montagud reached the final after stopping local surprise package Álvaro Peiró Serrano, who came through qualifying, with a 6–3, 6–3 victory.

The men’s quarterfinal lineup included top seed Carlos Taberner, Andrés Santamarta, Carles Córdoba, and Madrid’s Lucca Helguera.

In men’s doubles, Burgos native Mario Mansilla Díez and Barcelona’s Bruno Pujol Navarro lifted the trophy after their opponents Alejandro Hernández Ramada and Pablo Pérez Navarro were forced to retire due to illness, with the score at 6–2.
