VALENCIA/STARNBERG, December 16, 2025
The 2025 Campeonato de España de Tenis Absoluto (Spanish National Tennis Championships) gets underway on Tuesday at the Sporting Club de Tenis de Valencia. The competition offers a total prize purse of €41,250, distributed equally between the men’s and women’s events.
The tournament makes a high-profile return to the national calendar, marking the historic 105th edition of the MAPFRE Spanish Men’s Absolute Tennis Championships and the 91st edition of the Iberdrola Spanish Women’s Absolute Tennis Championships.
This event brings to a close the new RFET National Championships Circuit, organized in collaboration with the Valencian Tennis Federation. In its inaugural year, the circuit featured a total of 34 tournaments held across the country.
From Tuesday, December 9 to Friday, December 12, a pre-qualifying was contested, with 48 players competing based on their rankings. This was followed by the qualifying draw, played from Saturday, December 13 to Monday, December 15, featuring a 32-player field made up of 19 regional champions, nine players admitted by ranking, and four qualifiers from the pre-qualifying stage.
From Tuesday through Saturday the main draws take place, each consisting of 28 players. The men’s field is led by Carlos Taberner, Pol Martín Tiffon, Carlos Sánchez Jover, and Andrés Santamarta, while the top contenders in the women’s draw are Ángela Fita, Aliona Bolsova, Celia Cerviño, and Lucía Cortez.
Alongside the Spanish Absolute Tennis Championships, Valencia will also host the RFET National Coaches Congress and the Masters Finals of the RFET Amateur Circuit, further underlining the city’s role as a focal point for Spanish tennis this week.
