VALENCIA/STARNBERG, October 8, 2025
Spanish veteran Albert Ramos Vinolas headlined Wednesday’s second-round action at the Copa Faulcombridge. In what is set to be the final tournament of his professional career, after defeating defending champion Pedro Martinez in the first round, the man from Mataro proved once again that he is not ready to put down his racket just yet.
Rallying from a tough start against Zdenek Kolar, the former World No. 17 earned a place in the quarterfinals of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 clay-court event, extending his remarkable career for at least another day. He celebrated his 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win surrounded by the home crowd on the Pista Pablo Andujar, who cheered him on until the final point.

Another highlight of the day came from Carlos Taberner. Playing at home as a member of Club de Tenis Valencia, he found his best form to defeat Frenchman Luka Pavlovic 6-2, 6-3, avenging the loss of his friend Bernabe Zapata Miralles, who fell to the same opponent 24 hours earlier.
Ninth seed Marco Trungelliti, currently ranked World No. 143, will face Taberner next. Trungelliti advanced after Pol Martin Tiffon was forced to retire with a wrist injury after losing the first set 6-4. Earlier in the day, Carlos Lopez Montagud was outplayed by Croatian Luka Mikrut 6-3, 6-1, while Pablo Llamas Ruiz narrowly lost a high-quality battle against Sumit Nagal 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
