The excitement has already ignited among tennis fans in Guayaquil and across Ecuador following the release of the official entry list for the XXI edition of the Challenger Ciudad de Guayaquil — Copa Banco Guayaquil, scheduled for October 27–November 2, 2025 on the clay courts of the Guayaquil Tenis Club, Sede Anexo.

Argentina’s Mariano Navone (World No. 86) and Juan Manuel Cerundolo (No. 87) are, for now, the two Top-100 entrants and are expected to be the tournament’s top seeds. They are joined by a strong group of contenders: Elmer Moller (No. 122, Denmark), Tristan Boyer (No. 124, USA), Cristian Garin (No. 125, Chile), Hugo Dellien (No. 129, Bolivia), Roman Burruchaga (No. 130, Argentina) and Tomas Barrios (No. 137, Chile).

Navone enjoyed a breakout run last year, reaching a career-high No. 29 in the world after standout performances that included ATP Tour finals in Rio de Janeiro and Bucharest in 2024. This season he reached the third round at Roland Garros and made his debut for Argentina’s Davis Cup team after being called up by captain Javier Frana.

Champions and finalists return to Guayaquil

The 2025 edition will feature two former champions: Thiago Seyboth Wild, the 2019 winner, and Federico Gomez, the 2024 champion. Two past finalists are also entered: Hugo Dellien (2019 finalist) and Tomas Barrios (2024 finalist). All four know what it takes to navigate the demanding clay courts in Guayaquil, but with such a deep field this year, repeating those runs will be a tall order.

One standout to watch is Cristian Garin of Chile, who reached a career-high No. 17 in 2021 and has won five ATP titles, including the ATP 500 Rio Open.

Ecuadorians in the main draw

Three Ecuadorians are already confirmed in the singles main draw. Alvaro Guillen (ATP No. 205) earned direct entry, while Andres Andrade (No. 354) and promising junior Emilio Camacho (ITF Junior No. 53) received wild cards. More local players could still join the main draw by advancing through the qualifying rounds or by receiving the remaining wild card.

Players from twelve countries

At present 23 players are confirmed for the singles main draw, representing Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, the United States, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the Netherlands, Lebanon, Kazakhstan and Ecuador. They will be joined by six qualifiers, one additional wild card and up to two special exemptions, completing the 32-player field.
