The Slovenj Gradec Open ITF World Tennis Tour M15 (WTT) tournament, held from September 22 to 28 at the Murko Tennis Center in Slovenj Gradec, brought this year’s series of international WTT events in Slovenia to a close. With a prize fund of $15,000, the tournament was the last of a total of 16 WTT competitions hosted by Slovenia in 2025, eight as part of the men’s circuit and eight as part of the women’s circuit.

Nine Slovenian players competed in the main draw, with Ziga Sesko, Luka Talan Lopatic, Nik Mikovic, and Gasper Matijasic advancing to the second round. However, all four fell short in their next matches. Matijasis, still a junior like Sesko and Talan Lopatic, lost to the eventual tournament champion. Russia’s Kirill Kivattsev clinched the title with a victory over Belgium’s Martin van der Meerschen in the final.

“This year’s tournament was a great success. Despite some weather-related challenges, our team ensured everything ran smoothly, which gives us even more motivation for future editions. We were especially pleased with the fantastic response from the audience, whose energy created a true sporting atmosphere. The event holds great importance for our club and the Municipality of Slovenj Gradec, as it strengthens the city’s visibility and contributes to its promotion. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Municipality of Slovenj Gradec for its continued support, to Tennis Slovenia, all sponsors, players, officials, spectators, and everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the tournament. Looking ahead, we aim to further enhance the event and establish it as a major sporting fixture in the region,” said Dejan Murko Hajtnik at the close of the tournament.
