The Mubadala Citi DC Open, the only combined ATP/WTA 500-series tournament on the pro calendar – and fifth largest in the United States – has announced its first round of player commitments for this summer’s event. It’s full of star power, including seven Top-10 players, across both the ATP and WTA Tours.

The 56th edition of the tournament will take place July 19-27 at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park, located in northwest Washington, D.C. This year’s event already boasts 12 early commitments, who are set to compete in the nation’s capital city this summer, including four Top-10 WTA players, three Top-10 ATP players and and four past DC Open champions, as well as many fan favorites.

“We are excited to unveil our initial lineup for the 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open, featuring an exceptional group of the world’s best players,” said Mark Ein, Chairman of the Mubadala Citi DC Open, in a statement. “With seven current Top-10 players and so many fan favorites, including stars like Frances Tiafoe, Jessica Pegula, Taylor Fritz, Madison Keys, Tommy Paul, Paula Badosa, Nick Kyrgios and Lorenzo Musetti, Washington continues to solidify its place as one of the premier destinations on both the ATP and WTA tours.

“Ticket sales through the off-season already broke records, and we anticipate another unforgettable summer, with a fifth consecutive year of a completely sold-out event.”

Among the ATP commitments are: World No. 4 and 2024 US Open finalist Taylor Fritz of the United States, World No. 8 and 2024 Wimbledon semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti of Italy, and World No. 9 Alex de Minaur of Australia, a five-time major quarterfinalist. Also returning are: World No. 12 Tommy Paul of the United States, a 2025 Australian Open quarterfinalist; World No. 15 and D.C. native Frances Tiafoe of the United States, who is a two-time US Open semifinalist; and World No. 17 Andrey Rublev of Russia, a 10-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist. Rounding out the initial list are 2015 DC Open champion Kei Nishikori of Japan, owner of 12 career major quarterfinalist-or-better finishes; and two-time DC Open (2019 and 2022) singles champion Nick Kyrgios of Australia.

The WTA field features a trio of Americans: World No. 3 and 2024 US Open finalist Jessica Pegula, who won the DC Open title in 2019; World No. 7 and 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys; and World No. 9 and 2025 Merida champion Emma Navarro. Plus, there’s the return of 2024 DC Open champion Paula Badosa of Spain.

“Playing in Washington, D.C., means the world to me,” Tiafoe said in a statement. “This tournament is one of the reasons I play professional tennis. I used to sneak into this event as a kid, and now to be here competing on court is surreal.

“The energy from the crowd, the support from friends and family, it’s incredible. I’m always happy to be home, and I’m so excited to be back there in July. My dream would be to win this tournament.”

The Mubadala Citi DC Open’s ATP 500 event will include a 48-player singles draw and 16 doubles teams, while the WTA 500 tournament will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams.
