BUENOS AIRES/STARNBERG, January 25, 2026
Confirming an excellent week, Sao Paulo native Carolina Meligeni Alves, currently ranked World No. 232, captured the title at the ITF World Tennis Tour W35 tournament in Buenos Aires. In Sunday’s final, Meligeni delivered a commanding performance to defeat Spain’s Carlota Martinez Cirez 6-0, 6-2 in just one hour and 11 minutes.
The Brazilian controlled the match from start to finish, showcasing a solid, consistent and confident game to lift another professional trophy.
“I’m really happy with how well I played in this final,” said Meligeni Alves. “Last year I came close a few times in finals, and today I stepped on court with a different mindset. My team was fundamental throughout the week, with a lot of conversations and adjustments, and we managed to build this final in the best possible way. It’s a very special title. Around this time last year I also won a title here with my family present. This time it was different, without my father, but still very emotional and rewarding.”
This victory marks the ninth career title for Meligeni Alves on the Pro Circuit, her most recent having also come in Buenos Aires in January last year. The week prior, she reached the semifinals of the ITF W50+H, also held in the Argentine capital.
Following her triumph, Meligeni will head to the United States, where she is set to compete in the ITF World Tennis Tour W75 event in Vero Beach and the ITF W50 in Orlando, both played on clay courts in Florida.
