ITAJAI/STARNBERG, January 24, 2026
The final of the Itajaí Open is set. The ATP Challenger 75 tournament, offering a total prize money of US$107,000 and 75 ATP Ranking points to the champion, will conclude on Sunday morning at the Itamirim Clube de Campo.
Home favorite Thiago Seyboth Wild secured his place in the championship match with a commanding performance on Saturday, sweeping past Argentina’s Alex Barrena 6–1, 6–0. The 25-year-old Brazilian dominated from start to finish, stringing together 11 consecutive games to reach his first-ever ATP Challenger final on Brazilian soil.
In the other semifinal, second seed Adolfo Daniel Vallejo of Paraguay continued his strong run, defeating Spain’s Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo 6–4, 6–1 to book his spot in the final.
Seyboth Wild is chasing the sixth Challenger title of his career and enjoying a standout week in Itajaí after a shortened and unproductive previous season. The former ATP Santiago champion (2020) is expected to rise to No. 2 among Brazilian players in the next ATP Rankings, trailing only Joao Fonseca. A title on Sunday could further accelerate his return toward his career-high ranking of World No. 58, achieved in 2024.

“I’m very happy with my level today. At the professional level, winning eleven games in a row is very difficult,” said Seyboth Wild. “I’m also thrilled to be playing my first Challenger final in Brazil. I don’t know Vallejo very well, so I’ll watch some videos and prepare as best as possible for tomorrow.”
Vallejo, meanwhile, arrives at the final full of confidence and with fond memories of competing in Brazil. The 21-year-old won his first Challenger title in the country and boasts an excellent record on Brazilian courts, including titles in Curitiba and a runner-up finish at the Costa do Sauípe Challenger 125 last year.
“I really like Brazil and feel a strong connection here,” Vallejo said. “I played my best match of the week today and I hope to maintain that level in the final.”
The Itajaí Open final will close out the first Challenger 75 held in Brazil in 2026, promising a high-quality showdown in front of a packed crowd. The match will be broadcast live on Disney+ and ESPN.
All-Brazilian Duo Claims Doubles Title
The doubles final delivered a special moment for the home crowd, with Igor Marcondes and Eduardo Ribeiro capturing the title in an all-Brazilian showdown at the Itamirim Clube de Campo. Playing together for the first time after receiving a wild card from the organizers, the experienced pair overcame Bruno Oliveira and Matheus Pucinelli to lift the trophy.
Between them, Marcondes and Ribeiro now own 38 career doubles titles—24 for Marcondes and 14 for Ribeiro—and celebrated a dream start to the season.
“This was the first time we played together, and we’re longtime friends,” said Ribeiro. “Winning the title right away makes me hope it’s the first of many, and of even bigger ones.”
Marcondes added: “I want to thank the organizers for the wild cards in singles and doubles. It was a very special week for me, playing at home with my family and the fans, and starting the year with a title.”
The doubles champions earned 75 ATP Ranking points and US$4,980 in prize money, while the runners-up took home US$2,800 and 50 points.
