The 2025 ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals get underway with sixteen players are set to compete at the Sichuan International Tennis Centre in Chengdu, China, P.R. on 22-26 October.
The eight boys and eight girls follow in the footsteps of some of the game’s current stars.
Four current Top 10 players (Taylor Fritz, Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune and Elena Rybakina) have competed at the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals, while other notable former competitors include Leylah Fernandez, Sofia Kenin, Jelena Ostapenko, Casper Ruud, Marketa Vondrousova and Zheng Qinwen.
Kenin, Ostapenko, Rybakina and Vondrousova have all gone on to win Grand Slam singles titles, while Fernandez, Fritz, Ruud and Zheng have all reached Grand Slam finals.
Three former competitors at the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals have become Olympic medallists in men’s or women’s singles – Musetti (Paris 2024 men’s singles bronze), Vondrousova (Tokyo 2020 women’s singles silver) and Zheng (Paris 2024 women’s singles gold).
Among the participants this year are the Wimbledon girls’ singles champion, Slovakia’s Mia Pohankova and the US Open girl’s singles champion, Belgium’s Jeline Vandromme. Five other players who will compete in Chengdu have reached junior Grand Slam singles finals this year – Great Britain’s Hannah Klugman, USA’s Kristina Penickova, Germany’s Max Schoenhaus, Bulgaria’s Aleksandar Vasilev and USA’s Benjamin Willwerth.
