The Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919 has presented its prestigious Insignia de Oro (Gold Insignia) to Fernando López Miras, President of the Region of Murcia, and Alejandro Blanco Bravo, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee.
The distinction was awarded by Antonio Saura, President of the historic sports institution, during a ceremony held at the club’s facilities. The event, organized by the regional government to mark the start of the new sports season, brought together representatives of the region’s sports federations.
López Miras received the honor in recognition of the continued support provided by the regional government over the past nine years, particularly for hosting numerous national and international sporting events at the club. Blanco was recognized for his unwavering commitment to Spanish athletes and his constant defense of the values of sport.
Also in attendance were the Regional Minister for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Carmen Conesa; the Director General of Sports, Fran Sánchez; the Murcia City Council’s Sports Councillor, Miguel Ángel Noguera; and the entire board of the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919.
The Insignia de Oro is the club’s highest distinction, awarded to individuals and institutions that contribute to promoting the club’s visibility and advancing the sport of tennis.
Previous recipients include tennis legends Rafael Nadal, Nico Almagro, and Juan Herrera, as well as Miguel Díaz, President of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, and several former club presidents, among other notable figures.
