Sixteen-year-old Luis Guto Miguel, a semifinalist at this year’s US Open Juniors, has received the second wild card into the main draw of the Copa Internacional de Tenis – Ano III. The ATP Challenger 75 event takes place from October 12 to 18 at the Graciosa Country Club in Curitiba, Paraná.

Part of the ATP Challenger Tour, the tournament offers a total prize purse of US$100,000 and 75 ATP Ranking points to the champion.

Guto Miguel is in the midst of a transition season between the junior and professional circuits. In July, he earned his first ATP point at the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 Sao Paulo, and in doubles, he has already captured two professional titles in 2025 — both alongside his brother, Luis Felipe Miguel.

“I want to thank the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to play the Copa Internacional de Tênis in Curitiba,” said Miguel. “It’s going to be an amazing experience for me to compete in a Challenger 75. I want to make the most of this wild card, especially now that I’m playing more professional tournaments. I’m very motivated to give my best.”

According to tournament director Danilo Marcelino, the wild card aligns with the event’s mission to nurture Brazilian tennis talent:

“The goal of Instituto Sports in organizing tournaments across the country has always been to support the growth of Brazilian tennis. The wild cards are a way to reward the new generation of players who are just starting out or fighting to climb the rankings. It’s an experience they can only gain when competing at home.”

Miguel joins 21-year-old Joao Eduardo Schiessl from Paraná, who received the first wild card into the Challenger 75 main draw. The field also features top Brazilian players such as Thiago Seyboth Wild (former No. 58, current No. 162), Thiago Monteiro (former No. 61, current No. 174), and Joao Lucas Reis, who is enjoying the best season of his career at world No. 220.

The tournament will also showcase three Top 100 players — Juan Manuel Cerundolo (ARG, No. 87), Emilio Nava (USA, No. 92), and Thiago Tirante (ARG, No. 97).
