Junior World No. 1 Julieta Pareja To Play Central Coast Tennis Classic

The future of women’s tennis in American could very well pass through Templeton when the annual Central Coast Tennis Classic brought to you by Central Coast Home Health takes place September 22-28 at the Templeton Tennis Ranch.

Sixteen-year-old Julieta Pareja from Carlsbad is currently the No. 1 junior in the International Tennis Federation world singles rankings and already boasts a WTA world ranking of No. 355. In July at Wimbledon, Pareja made both the singles and doubles junior finals and was granted a wild card into the main draw of the US Open.

At just 15, Pareja won her first career pro title last summer at the SoCal Pro Series Rancho Santa Fe Futures $15,000 event. In her WTA debut in March, she advanced to the semifinals in Colombia becoming the youngest WTA Tour semifinalist since Coco Gauff in 2019.

Once again, the seventh annual Central Coast Classic ITF World Tour $60,000 event boasts a strong entry list of WTA women’s players ranked from No. 120 to around No. 375 in the world, Tournament Director and Templeton Tennis Ranch GM Chris Fouquet said. He also announced a new major sponsor in Central Coast Home Health and Hospice. Servicing San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, Central Coast Home Health and Hospice is physician-directed nursing, rehabilitation, and hospice providing skilled home care in the comfort of your own home.

Last year’s singles finalist Usue Arconada from Florida returns this year as does the top American entered in Louisa Chirico. The 29-year-old WTA veteran from New Jersey has won seven ITF singles titles and is currently No. 151 in the world. Chirico is listed as second on the entry list behind world No. 121 Olivia Gadecki from Australia. Iryna Shymanovich from Belarus, Japan’s Himeno Sakatsume and Canada’s Cadence Brace will also be among the top seeds. Americans expected to compete in the main draw include: Elvina KalievaEmina BektasFiona CrawleyMary StoinaClaire LiuVivian Wolf and Eryn Cayetano.

The qualifying list is topped by former UC-Berkeley All-American Haley Giavara. Americans expected to qualify include former USC stars Madison Sieg and Salma Ewing, former US Open Junior champion Kayla Day, former Princeton standout Victoria Hu, Woodland Hills’ Katrina Scott, former NCAA singles champion from UCLA Fangran Tian.
