LJUBLJANA/STARNBERG, September 12, 2025
It was a true Slovenian day at Tivoli. On the fifth day of the WTA Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana, Kaja Juvan booked her place in the semifinals of the WTA 125 event in both singles and doubles, while Dalila Jakupovic and Nika Radisic already secured their spot in the doubles final.
Saturday’s schedule at Tivoli will get underway at 11 a.m. with top seed Simona Waltert of Switzerland facing Slovakian Renata Jamrichova. Immediately afterwards, Juvan will take on Germany’s Mona Barthel in the singles semifinals before teaming up with Kristina Novak for the doubles semifinal later in the day.
Juvan thrilled the home fans once again, among them Slovenian sporting legends Ivo Daneu and Zoran Dragic. She won her third consecutive match without dropping a set to move into the semifinals and then repeated the feat in doubles alongside Novak. Playing 22-year-old Hungarian Amarissa Kiara Toth for the first time in her career, the World No. 154 needed just 65 minutes to seal a 6-4, 6-1 victory. The Hungarian offered some resistance in the opening set, but Juvan dominated the second to confirm her superiority. In the semifinals she will face experienced 35-year-old German Mona Barthel.
“I started very well, then maybe made a few more mistakes and my opponent came back a little,” Juvan said afterwards. “I tried to keep my level. The Hungarian played really well at times but also gave me quite a few points, so overall I think I was more consistent. When I feel good on court I don’t focus too much on tactics and just try to attack. But if things aren’t going as planned, I have to react tactically – that’s what happened at the end of the first set. I changed the tempo a little, hit some higher balls, and in the second set she struggled more with it.”
