The European Open, an ATP 250 indoor hard court event that will host its first edition in Brussels this fall, has added Roland-Garros semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti to its list of early commitments to the tournament.
The confirmation of the World No. 7 from Italy was announced by tournament director Dick Norman on Thursday. It adds significant star power to the event, which will be held Oct. 12-19 at the Brussels Expo.
“With Lorenzo Musetti, we’re welcoming a true world-class player to the European Open,” Norman said in a statement. “He’s a stylish and gifted talent, capable of making a real impact on court. His presence not only makes him a strong contender for the title but also elevates the international appeal of our very first edition in Brussels.”

In addition to Musetti, the European Open previously announced homegrown talents, No. 47 David Goffin and 50th-ranked Zizou Bergs of Belgium, to the lineup. With its move to the Belgian capital city following nine years in Antwerp, the European Open tournament is entering a prestigious new era that is embracing renewal while remaining firmly rooted in excellence and ambition.
Musetti, whose win-loss record this season is 25-7, has already won two ATP singles titles and made a semifinal run at Wimbledon last year. He also became the first Italian man since 1924 to win an Olympic tennis medal, when he won the bronze medal in singles at the Paris Olympic Games last July.
The 23-year-old Italian last appeared at the European Open in 2021, losing in the second round to eventual champion Jannik Sinner.
“I’m really looking forward to playing in Belgium again,” Musetti said in a statement. “The atmosphere at the European Open is something special, and having Brussels as the new host city makes it even more exciting. It’s a privilege to be part of this fresh chapter for the tournament. The energy from the crowd is warm and intense, it gives me a real boost as a player. I’m determined to bring my best tennis and hopefully go far in the tournament.”
Norman added: “Musetti is a name that captures the imagination of every tennis fan. His participation adds extra shine to our 10th anniversary and reflects our continued ambition to grow with quality and purpose.”
