This Saturday, on the indoor hard courts of the Trelew Tennis Club, Argentina’s Martina Capurro was crowned champion of the W15 Trelew I tournament after defeating her compatriot Victoria Bosio in the final.

The event, organized by the Tennis Association of Northeastern Chubut with support from the Argentine Tennis Association, once again saw a local player lift the trophy. The match began with both players struggling to hold serve, as nerves led to inconsistent shots and four service breaks in the first six games. Bosio, a former champion and finalist in the last two editions, capitalized on another break opportunity in the eighth game and closed out the first set 6–3 with her serve.

Capurro responded swiftly in the second set, showing a clear shift in strategy and execution. She took a commanding 4–0 lead with deep, heavy groundstrokes that unsettled Bosio and forced multiple unforced errors. Although Bosio managed a brief comeback with a break of serve, she failed to consolidate, and Capurro leveled the match with a 6-2 set win.

In the decisive third set, the 27-year-old left-hander from Avellaneda maintained her momentum. She continued to dictate play with aggressive baseline shots, broke Bosio early, and surged ahead to a 5-1 lead. With two break points in hand, Capurro closed out the match 6–1 to secure the title in Chubut province.

This victory marked Capurro’s eighth professional title on the ITF World Tennis Tour and her first on a hard court. In 2022, she claimed two W15 titles in São Paulo, and in 2023, she triumphed at four W25 events in Santo Domingo (twice), Punta Cana, Bragado, and Junín.

“I was a bit nervous at the start and Vito came out playing very well,” Capurro said after the final. “But I’m happy I found the right solution during the match. The key was to relax, control the points, reduce my errors, and stick to my plan. Last year was really tough for me both personally and professionally, so I’m very happy to win another tournament here in Argentina. I’m really impressed by the quality of this event in Trelew — the courts and the club are amazing.”

Bosio also reflected on the final: “It was a tense match. She managed to relax more toward the end. Her game makes me uncomfortable, especially on this surface — she’s very aggressive and being left-handed gives her an edge with spin. Still, I’m happy to have reached the final and continue on this positive path.”
