The second edition of the Republica Dominicana Open – Copa Cap Cana gets underway this Monday with the qualifying rounds at the Tennis Village in Cap Cana. The ATP Challenger 175 hard-court tournament, which features dozens of players ranked among the Top 100 in the world, marks the start of a week of high-level tennis in the Caribbean.
Monday’s action will feature Dominican player Peter Bertran, who will attempt to secure a place in the main draw when he faces Frenchman Luca Van Assche, the top seed in the qualifying draw, on the main stadium court at Cap Cana.
The same court will first host a match between Coleman Wong of Hong Kong and China’s Zhizhen Zhang, followed by Spain’s Martin Landaluce taking on Britain’s Jack Pinnington Jones.
Another Dominican player, Alberto Puello, will also be in action as he aims to reach the final round of qualifying. Puello is scheduled to face Tunisia’s Moez Echargui, the seventh seed in the qualifying draw, in the second match on the Grandstand court.
The qualifying competition features 16 players battling for four available spots in the main draw of the tournament, which is supported by the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism.

Main draw set
The singles main draw was also finalized on Sunday. Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic, currently ranked No. 58 in the world, leads the field as the top seed and will receive a first-round bye. Second seed Valentin Royer of France, ranked world No. 60, will also begin his campaign in the second round.
Among the other notable names competing in this year’s event are Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Damir Dzumhur, the 2025 finalist who enters as the third seed, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, the fourth seed and former World No. 6. Both players will also receive byes in the opening round.
Dominican players Nick Hardt and Roberto Cid have received wild cards into the main draw. Hardt will face sixth-seeded Argentine Mariano Navone in the first round, while Cid is set to take on Belgium’s Alexander Blockx. Main draw matches are scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
