BRASILIA/STARNBERG, March 7, 2026
Thiago Monteiro and Eduardo Ribeiro will represent Brazil in the semifinals of the Brasilia Tennis Open, an ATP Challenger 75 tournament played on clay at the Iate Clube de Brasília with total prize money of $107,000. The semifinal matches begin at 11 a.m. and will be broadcast by CazéTV.
Former world No. 70 Monteiro delivered a dominant performance to defeat his training partner Pedro Boscardin Dias 6-1, 6-2. The two have trained together for several years in Rio de Janeiro, but Monteiro controlled the match from start to finish.

“We’ve trained together for a few years in Rio. I’m very happy with the way I played today,” Monteiro said. “It was a very solid match from my side. I took the chances I created, served well and returned well. I kept getting more confident as the match went on.”
Monteiro will now face Portugal’s Henrique Rocha, the fifth seed, who defeated Bolivia’s Juan Carlos Prado Angelo 6-3, 6-3.
“I call him ‘The Rock’. He’s a great Portuguese talent,” Monteiro said about his next opponent. “We’ve trained several times but never played in a match. It has everything to be a great semifinal.”
Rocha also praised the level he has shown during the tournament. “I’m happy with today’s match. I’ve been improving round after round and playing at a high level,” he said. “It’s still too early to think about the title. I have a semifinal to play.”
The Portuguese player added that he has felt comfortable during his first visit to Brasilia. “It’s my first time here and I’m impressed with the club. The food is similar to Portugal and communication is easy, so it feels a little like home,” Rocha said with a smile. “The barbecue is the highlight — the meat is excellent. I almost eat it every day, especially picanha.”

Ribeiro Returns to Challenger Semifinals
Qualifier Eduardo Ribeiro advanced after a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Gustavo Heide in a match that was briefly interrupted by rain in the final game.
It will be Ribeiro’s third Challenger semifinal and his first since June 2023. The Brazilian reflected on the difficult period he endured due to injuries in recent seasons.
“I’m very happy. It’s very rewarding to be back in a semifinal,” Ribeiro said. “Over the last three years I’ve gone through many injuries and difficult moments where I spent a long time away from tennis. To return to a semifinal without pain and with a great team behind me is very special.”
Ribeiro will now face the tournament’s top seed, Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, who defeated Argentina’s Facundo Diaz Acosta 7-6(6), 6-3 in the evening session after several rain interruptions.
“I just need to focus on myself, rest well and be ready to impose my game,” Ribeiro said. “I feel prepared and we’ll go all in tomorrow.”
Vallejo also acknowledged the challenge ahead. “I’m very happy. It was a match with many interruptions and very complicated,” he said. “Now I have to recover well. I know Ribeiro very well — it will be a tough match with the crowd supporting him, but the important thing is to compete well.”
Zormann Reaches Doubles Final
Brazil will also have a representative in the doubles final. Marcelo Zormann advanced alongside Argentina’s Mariano Kestelboim after defeating Gianluca Cadenasso and Carlos Sánchez Jover 6-3, 7-5.
In the final, they will face the Portuguese duo Henrique Rocha and Jaime Faria, who defeated Brazil’s Igor Marcondes and Eduardo Ribeiro 6-3, 5-7, 10-3.
