Later in the afternoon, Switzerland’s Remy Bertola, who entered the tournament as an alternate, continued his impressive run by defeating compatriot Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-1, 6-4. Bertola was in control throughout, racing through the first set and maintaining his composure in the second to close out a straight-sets victory in just 56 minutes.
Van Assche is seeking his fifth ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first of the season. Bertola could lift his maiden trophy. The pair will meet for the first time.
