Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale In French And Swiss Hands

The Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale is firmly in French and Swiss hands after Friday’s quarterfinals, with players from the two nations claiming all four semifinal spots and setting up an intriguing finish to the ATP Challenger Tour 125 tournament in Brittany.

Luca Van Assche continued his impressive run with a solid 6–4, 6–4 win over fellow Frenchman Titouan Droguet in one hour and 32 minutes, while defending champion Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg produced one of the results of the day by edging seventh seed Benjamin Bonzi in three sets, 6–2, 6–7(3), 7–5.

Switzerland’s Marc-Andrea Huesler also advanced in convincing fashion, dismissing local wild card entry Thomas Faurel 6–3, 6–2 in just 52 minutes. The final semifinal spot went to Swiss alternate Remy Bertola after eighth seed Mackenzie McDonald from the United States was forced to retire due to injury with the score at 4–1 in the opening set.
