With just over two months to go until the 2026 edition of the Sao Leo Open, preparations are in full swing as organizers work intensively to deliver an outstanding experience for both players and fans at one of Brazil’s premier tennis events. From March 28 to April 5, the Sao Leopoldo Tenis Clube (SLTC) will once again host the tournament, which is expected to bring to Rio Grande do Sul players who are currently ranked—or have previously been ranked—among the world’s Top 100.

The Sao Leo Open is an ATP Challenger 75 tournament offering total prize money of USD 112,000, further strengthening its position on the international tennis calendar.

In anticipation of hosting the event in 2026, the Sao Leopoldo Tenis Clube has been investing heavily in infrastructure upgrades since early 2025 to enhance both capacity and quality. The club’s leadership has focused on expanding key areas, improving courts, and modernizing facilities to meet the demands of an international tournament.

“The Sao Leo Open is our flagship event, and throughout 2025 we carried out extensive renovations, including paving and renewing the parking area. The club looks beautiful,” said SLTC President Eliane Tonello. “On the courts, we are fully revitalizing two courts from the ground up, bringing them to a completely new standard. We will have six courts with official dimensions to host the Sao Leo Open, along with a structure well suited to accommodate the large crowds that attend the matches. Our goal is to provide a great experience for everyone involved.”

Tournament Director Jose Carlos Ferreira Junior, who also represents Quadra Eventos, highlighted further enhancements planned for this year’s edition. “The Sao Leo Open continues to evolve alongside the improvements at the São Leopoldo Tenis Clube. We will now have three courts available for night sessions, larger grandstands to better serve the public, and new entertainment, dining, and lounge areas for families to enjoy around the courts,” he explained.
