CANBERRA/STARNBERG, January 10, 2026
The Workday Canberra International 2026, Canberra’s premier tennis tournament, crowned the 2026 champions on Saturday in front of enthusiastic crowds throughout an action-packed week of world-class tennis.
Joanna Garland of Chinese Taipei, who delivered a composed and confident performance to defeat No. 3 seed Polina Kudermetova from Uzbekistan 6-4, 6-2 in the championship match, claimed the singles title of the WTA 125 hard-court event.
Garland showcased her consistency and competitive edge under pressure. The 24-year-old saved all three break points she faced and capitalized on three of her own six break-point chances to seal a standout victory in one hour and 25 minutes.
Following 16 triumphs on the ITF World Tennis Tour, Garland earned her maiden WTA 125 crown, a significant milestone in her professional career.
