Monza Open Secures 2026 Return With Upgrade To Challenger 125

Monza Open

MONZA/STARNBERG, November 25, 2025

Monza is set for both a confirmation and an exciting new milestone. Along with securing its place once again on the international tennis calendar for 2026 – from Sunday, April 5 to Sunday, April 12 – the Monza Open, part of the ATP Challenger Tour, will move up in category from a Challenger 100 to a Challenger 125 event. This upgrade represents a major step forward in terms of ranking points (125) and total prize money, which will rise to €181,500. As a result, the tournament is expected to attract an even stronger field of players to the clay courts of Villa Reale Tennis.

But the advancements do not stop there. The upgrade will also bring further investments aimed at enhancing the overall experience for spectators and partners and strengthening the event’s connection with the city and local community. The hospitality village, previously located solely within the club, will expand into the adjacent areas, adding a dedicated zone for street food and entertainment throughout the tournament week. The Monza Open is evolving into a true festival with an enriched program designed to promote tennis in a vibrant, social atmosphere—building on the success of its inaugural edition last April.

“The confirmation of the date is already a major achievement,” said Giorgio Tarantola, Tournament Director of the Monza Open 2026. “And with the upgrade to a Challenger 125, we’ve reached a milestone that certainly wasn’t guaranteed. It reflects the credibility we’ve managed to build with the ATP after just one edition. This success comes from the commitment of the organizing committee, sponsors, and our team, as well as the outstanding response from the city and fans. We’re confident we can surpass the first edition: we’ll work to expand and improve facilities and increase seating across all courts so that even more spectators can enjoy world-class tennis.”

Cristiano Crippa, President of Villa Reale Tennis, added: “We are proud to host the second edition of the Monza Open. We hope the tournament will once again showcase not only high-quality tennis but also the unique setting of our sports center next to the magnificent Royal Villa of Monza. The first edition was met with remarkable support on multiple levels—large attendance, involvement from numerous local associations, strong backing from the business community, and close collaboration with regional representatives. Our goal is to establish the Monza Open as one of the key events for the area, offering opportunities for leisure, cultural enrichment, and social engagement.”

Matteo Fenaroli, Sponsorship Manager of the tournament, highlighted the momentum gained: “We are building on the excellent results of the first edition with the goal of raising the bar even higher. We will focus even more on delivering top-quality experiences for players, spectators, and the partner companies that support the event. Most sponsors have confirmed their commitment, and several multinational companies have joined us this year, contributing to the tournament’s growth. We remain open to creating new projects with additional partners and are committed to giving special attention to all aspects of sustainability.”

Finally, Duvier Medina, Technical Director of Villa Reale Tennis, emphasized the tournament’s impact on young players: “The Monza Open is a fantastic opportunity for us to grow—not only from a technical standpoint. During the tournament, our young athletes get to observe professional players up close and see firsthand what can be achieved with years of dedication and training. For our academy, it is essential to offer role models who inspire both sportingly and educationally. We hope the competitors, as in the previous edition, can motivate all our players—regardless of level or category—and encourage new young talents to approach this wonderful sport.”
