Internazionali Di Bergamo Celebrate 20th Edition With New Home At ChorusLife Arena

Internazionali di Bergamo – Trofeo FAIP-Perrel

BERGAMO/STARNBERG, November 7, 2025

The 20th edition of the Internazionali di Bergamo – Trofeo FAIP-Perrel has been officially unveiled. The tournament, one of the longest-running events on the ATP Challenger Tour, will celebrate its milestone anniversary in the spectacular new ChorusLife Arena, marking a major step forward for the event’s legacy and visibility.

During the official presentation, held in the Council Hall of Palazzo Frizzoni — Bergamo’s City Hall — city officials, sponsors, and organizers came together to emphasize the sense of unity and tradition that defines the tournament.

“The return to Bergamo after a year in Rovereto makes this year’s edition especially meaningful,” said Marcella Messina, Bergamo’s Councillor for Social Policy, Longevity, Health, and Sport. “This event represents passion, resilience, and a deep connection to our community.”

The ATP will recognize the tournament’s longevity with a special award to be presented on Sunday, November 23, before the singles final — an honor reserved for the most enduring events on the circuit. Since its debut in 2006, the tournament has grown alongside Italian tennis, which today boasts a strong presence on the world stage.

Glauco Merelli, president of the organizing body Olme Sport, reflected on the milestone: “Reaching 20 years wasn’t easy. We’ve faced many challenges, but the effort has been worth it. The event has grown together with Italian tennis — back then there were just four Italians in the top 100, now the movement is thriving.”

Former alpine skiing champion and now Member of the European Parliament Lara Magoni, serving as Provincial Delegate for CONI, also highlighted the event’s “family spirit” and its broader impact. “Tennis is a sport with five million enthusiasts in Italy and an economic impact of seven billion euros nationally,” she noted. The importance of the tournament for the Lombardy region was also underlined in a message from Federica Picchi, Undersecretary for Sport and Youth, who praised the organizers for maintaining its international reach — attracting players from over 20 countries every year.

Excellence on and off the court

The tournament’s historic title sponsors, FAIP (Giuseppe Magoni) and Perrel (Gabriele Magoni), both from Selvino, reaffirmed their long-standing support, while Intesa Sanpaolo and Sarco Lexus Bergamo joined as presenting sponsors for 2025. “There’s a natural connection between Lexus and tennis — both pursue excellence, performance, and precision,” said Giorgio Arrigoni of Sarco Lexus.

A major upgrade in branding and communication has also been announced, led by NT Next, the event’s official Event & Communication Partner, which has carried out a complete visual restyling to align with international indoor tournament standards. Semi-finals and finals will once again be broadcast live on Sky Sport, while local media partners L’Eco di Bergamo, Bergamo TV, and TennisTalker will ensure extensive coverage.

Young talent and the next generation

On court, the action begins November 16 with qualifying matches, followed by the main draw from November 17 to 23. The move to the ChorusLife Arena — featuring two adjacent courts — will solve past logistical challenges and provide a more streamlined, professional setup.

Tournament Director Marco Fermi confirmed that the field will feature a blend of established players and rising stars. Among the most promising names are Germany’s Justin Engel (18, already inside the ATP Top 200) and Croatia’s Dino Prizmic, alongside a strong Italian contingent.

Wild cards have been awarded to several exciting prospects, including Jacopo Vasamì, the 17-year-old Italian who recently won the prestigious Trofeo Bonfiglio and reached the semifinals at the Milan Challenger. Vasamì, currently ranked around World No. 400, will play in Bergamo as his last tournament before turning 18 in December — a symbolic transition to his professional career.

The qualifying draw will also include Gilles Arnaud Bailly of Belgium (ATP No. 207, contender for the Next Gen Finals) and Niels McDonald, the German winner of the 2024 Roland Garros Junior title. Local hopes will be represented by Leonardo Borrelli, of Tennis Club Città dei Mille, also competing with a qualifying wild card.
