Germany’s Tatjana Maria, Czech rising star Sara Bejlek and Slovenia’s Veronika Erjavec headline the entry list for the Copa Banco Guayaquil WTA 125 Quito, which will be held from December 1 to 7, 2025, at the Quito Tenis & Golf Club. The winner will earn 125 WTA Ranking points.
Tatjana Maria, currently ranked World No. 41, enters the tournament as a wild card granted by the organizers, under the direction of former World No. 6 Nicolas Lapentti. The German veteran has won four WTA titles, including a WTA 500 crown in London this season, and was a Wimbledon semifinalist in 2022. Throughout her career, Maria has recorded victories over top players such as Karolina Muchova, Elena Rybakina, Madison Keys, Amanda Anisimova, Leylah Fernandez, Maria Sakkari, and Jelena Ostapenko.
Among the rising stars is 19-year-old Sara Bejlek from the Czech Republic, ranked No. 75, who has enjoyed a breakout year with three WTA 125 titles, in Querétaro, Rende, and Makarska, and a second-round appearance at Roland Garros. A former junior doubles champion at the French Open, the left-hander has already defeated several Top 50 opponents, including Marta Kostyuk, Anna Kalinskaya and Julia Riera.
Slovenia’s Veronika Erjavec (No. 98) is another strong contender for the title, having captured two WTA 125 titles this year in Huzhou and Changsha, along with six ITF Pro Circuit trophies. She has notable wins over Marta Kostyuk, Tatjana Maria, and Maria Lourdes Carle.
Other notable names include Mayar Sherif of Egypt (No. 103), a former World No. 31 who has won a WTA 250 title in Parma (2022) and eight WTA 125 events, as well as Argentina’s Julia Riera (No. 183), a member of Argentina’s Billie Jean King Cup team and former world No. 83. Riera won the WTA 100 in Wiesbaden last season and owns six ITF titles.
The main draw will feature 32 players, including direct entries, qualifiers and wild cards. Additional players already confirmed include Panna Udvardy (HUN #105), Leolia Jeanjean (FRA #108), Caroline Dolehide (USA #112), Oleksandra Oliynykova (UKR #132), Maja Chwalinska (POL #134), and Varvara Lepchenko (USA #157).
