“It was a huge match. We both fight until the end and it was very physical. I was feeling it in the end,” Brunclik told Tennis TourTalk. “Reaching my first Challenger final is huge. I didn’t come here with many expectations. I just wanted to go match by match. It’s special to make it into the final.”
Brunclik was a top 10 Junior and has already achieved some promising results on the Pro Circuit.
“I had a good start into the year,” said the youngster, who practices at Sparta Prague. “I won my first M25 tournament in Santo Domingo. From then on, I started to get some results at Challenger level as well. It was going up pretty much all the time. That’s really good and I hope to keep it going.”
Giustino fights past Moro Canas
Earlier in the day, Lorenzo Giustino battled past eighth-seeded Spaniard Alejandro Moro Canas 7-6(3), 7-6(5). In a match without any breaks, the 34-year-old Italian struck nine aces and won five points more than his opponent to secure victory in two hours and 32 minutes.

“He played without many mistakes during the match but made about four unforced errors in each of the two tie-breaks,” Giustino told Tennis TourTalk afterwards. “For me the Center Court is a bit too slow. The other two courts are faster and suit my game better.
“I only played once here before. It was last year. When I am playing Futures, I mostly play in Spain when I can go with my wife and my kid. It’s tough for me to be here without them. But in terms of tennis it’s perfect here. The hotel is next to the site and the courts are slow but they are good. The organizers treat you very well. The food is okay. Everything is clean, so there is nothing to complain. Sometimes it is a bit windy but who cares, that’s normal,” said the World No. 269.
“My level raised after the Bundesliga season this year. I had a lot of injuries last year but this year my body feels fine. That’s a good thing. I practiced a lot and improved my game. I was ranked outside the Top 400. I went to the Futures Tour and won three tournaments. I feel like I am competitive again. My goal is to get into the Top 200 again and mostly play bigger tournaments,” said Giustino, who has reached his first Challenger final since May 2022.
Giustino is seeking his second career title on the ATP Challenger Tour following his triumph in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Giustino is also about to crack the mark of earning $1 Mio. in career prize money. Was he aware of this fact? “Yes,” the Naples native responded and added with a smile: “It’s nice but it’s not that I am having 1 million on my bank account.”
Denolly/Westphal triumph in doubles
Later in the afternoon, Corentin Denolly and Max Westphal claimed the doubles title. The all-French combination defeated Stefan Latinovic of Serbia and Croatian Luka Mikrut 7-5, 2-6, 10-6 in one hour and 12 minutes.
