The 10th anniversary edition of the Brest Open Groupe Vert proved to be a resounding success, with the Brest Arena buzzing from the first serve to the final point. Throughout the week, the passionate Breton crowd turned out in force, culminating in a nearly sold-out arena on Sunday for the doubles and singles finals.

Record attendance and renewed excitement

For this milestone edition, more than 22,000 spectators attended the tournament – surpassing last year’s figures and matching the vibrant atmosphere of the event’s most memorable years, including 2023’s star-studded edition. The strong turnout confirmed once again that the Brest Open Groupe Vert has become one of the standout fixtures on the ATP Challenger Tour calendar.

Hugo Gaston claims the crown

In a thrilling finale, Hugo Gaston emerged as the champion of the 10th Brest Open Groupe Vert, defeating US-American Eliot Spizzirri 2–6, 6–2, 6–1. The 24-year-old from Toulouse, who had received a wild card from the organizers, showcased grit and flair throughout the week. His path to the title included wins over Calvin Hemery, Francesco Maestrelli, Arthur Fery, and a hard-fought semifinal victory over Alexis Galarneau.

Supported by an enthusiastic local crowd, Gaston expressed his joy after the final:

“Brittany seems to suit me well – maybe it’s the crêpes at night, I don’t know (smiles). I feel great here. Playing in a venue like this, with such an atmosphere, is fantastic. The tournament is perfectly organized, everything is top-notch for the players. Everyone takes great care of us, and I try to give that back on the court.”

Brest, a launchpad for future stars

True to its tradition, the Brest Open Groupe Vert once again served as a showcase for emerging talent. Finalist Eliot Spizzirri, who broke into the world’s Top 100 for the first time at just 23 years old, was one of several young players to impress the crowd. Rising stars Luca Nardi, Maé Malige, Rei Sakamoto, and Mark Lajal also made their mark, following in the footsteps of previous Brest participants such as Hubert Hurkacz, Daniil Medvedev, Stéfanos Tsitsipas, Ugo Humbert, Brandon Nakashima, Holger Rune, Joao Fonseca, and even Roger Federer.

Inspiring the next generation

As always, the Brest Open Groupe Vert remained deeply committed to promoting tennis among young people. Throughout the year, the organizers hosted several outreach events, including the Urban Tennis by BMH at Les Capucins, which brought together 123 children for an unforgettable day of tennis with Calvin Hemery and tournament director Arnaud Clément.

During the tournament week, the Kids Day “Mon Atout Energie” welcomed 800 children for autograph sessions, player meet-and-greets, and live matches from the stands. Young players from TC Brest and Légion Saint-Pierre, who had taken part in the Open des Scolaires, also had the chance to step onto the central court for the Open de la Jeunesse, with exhibition matches on Saturday and Sunday that inspired both participants and fans alike.

A milestone edition that delivered on every level

“A wonderful week has come to an end for the Brest Open Groupe Vert — an anniversary edition that lived up to every expectation: world-class tennis, a thrilling final, a passionate audience from start to finish, and a successful mission to promote tennis and sport in general,” said Alexis Dagorn, President of the Brest Challenger Tour Association. “We are proud of this 10th anniversary edition and look forward to another decade of great tennis, starting in 2026!”
