COSTA DO SAUIPE/STARNBERG, October 21, 2025
On Monday evening, two Brazilian players celebrated key victories at the Costa do Sauipe Open, held at the resort of Costa do Sauipe, Bahia. Matheus Pucinelli fought through qualifying in impressive fashion, while Gustavo Heide opened his main-draw campaign with a hard-fought win.
Pucinelli earned his spot in the main draw after a grueling, nearly three-hour battle against compatriot Daniel Dutra Silva, coming from behind to triumph 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Heide, meanwhile, defeated Argentina’s Federico Gomez 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 to secure his place in the second round of the ATP Challenger 125 clay-court event.
“The key today was staying focused, even with the tough weather conditions,” said Heide after his match. “It was windy, it rained, and play was stopped for a while, but I stayed strong with the help of the crowd. It’s important to keep this rhythm going into the round of 16.”
