HAMBURG/STARNBERG, October 20, 2025
Defending champion Henri Squire advanced to the second round of the Hamburg Ladies & Gents Cup with a win over third seed Gauthier Onclin of Belgium on Monday.
After a slow start and a 2-4 deficit, the 25-year-old German found his rhythm and stormed through the remainder of the match, winning ten straight games to close it out 6-4, 6-0 after one hour and 15 minutes.
“I hadn’t played on hard court before this, so the first few games were tough,” Squire admitted. “But then I found my game, and you can see from the score that everything clicked.”
Also advancing to the second round of the ATP Challenger Tour 50 event was young German Jamie Mackenzie, who defeated Italy’s Francesco Forti 6-2, 6-3. World No. 258 Marko Topo of Germany battled hard but ultimately fell to No. 5 seed George Loffhagen of Great Britain 6-7(10), 7-6, 6-1 after two hours and 33 minutes.
