An emotional day unfolded at Club de Tenis Valencia as Spanish veteran Albert Ramos Vinolas bid farewell to professional tennis. The 37-year-old, who chose the Copa Faulcombridge as the final stop of his 18-season career on tour, fought hard in his quarterfinal match against Jan Choinski but ultimately fell short, 6-4, 7-5. True to his trademark fighting spirit, Ramos had opportunities to force a deciding set, but this time, the Briton sealed the victory.

What followed was a moment that will be remembered in Valencia: his teammates from Club de Tenis Valencia formed a farewell corridor as the crowd rose to its feet in a heartfelt ovation. The tribute, coinciding with the Day of the Valencian Community, was a fitting send-off for a player who built his career on resilience and grit.

Over the years, Ramos collected four ATP Tour titles and eight Challenger crowns, most recently at Modena, Italy in 2024. He reached a career-high Ranking of World No. 17 in May 2017 and earned a total prize money of $11,138,520.

Later on Court 1, under the moonlit Valencia sky, Henri Squire continued his impressive run with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Sumit Nagal. The 25-year-old German’s aggressive and assertive game left Nagal struggling to adapt to the evening conditions. The result sets up a top-half semifinal clash between Choinski and Squire.

Despite concerns about the weather, rain ultimately did not disrupt Thursday’s schedule, allowing all planned matches – including the doubles quarterfinals – to be completed. Spanish player Inigo Cervantes, partnering with Daniel Cukierman, secured a 6-4, 7-6 win over Christoph Negritu and Alexander Merino to reach the semifinals. They will next face the US-American duo Trey Hildebrand and Mac Kiger, who have been strong contenders throughout the event. The other semifinal will see top seeds Ariel Behar and Rafael Matos take on Marcelo Demoliner and Orlando Luz.
