VILLENA/STARNBERG, September
The countdown to the 2025 Alicante Ferrero Challenger officially began on Wednesday with the tournament’s presentation at Villena’s historic Teatro Chapí, which is celebrating its centenary this year. Presided over by the city’s councillor for sport, Maite Gandía, alongside officials from the JC Ferrero Tennis Academy, the event served as a stage to announce the wild cards for this edition as well as to outline the tournament’s general structure.
This year’s tournament will enjoy broad audiovisual coverage, with TVE, Movistar+, Eurosport, Tennis Channel and Challenger TV all set to broadcast the matches.
Eighteen-year-old US-American prospect Darwin Blanch has been confirmed for the main draw thanks to a wild card. He is enjoying a strong season with wins over players ranked inside the Top 120. His brother, Dali Blanch, will also compete following solid results at Challenger and ITF M15 events. The third wild card has gone to Spaniard Iñaki Montes de la Torre, finalist at the ITF M15 Villena, who will be looking to continue his rise on the circuit.
Beyond the professional draw, the Alicante Ferrero Challenger once again acts as a springboard for young talents being developed at the academy itself. This year, qualifying wild cards have been awarded to Anas Mazdrashki, Carles Hernández and Quique Carrascosa, currently the highest-ranked Spanish player of his age group.
With these six names, the organisers reaffirm their commitment to young tennis, national and international talent, and professional development from the grassroots level.
Tickets are available via the tournament’s website, priced between €15 and €22.
