ITF Press Release, July 21, 2025

Top 10 stars Jessica Pegula, Zheng Qinwen, Madison Keys, Jasmine Paolini and Paula Badosa headline a stellar line-up of players who will compete at the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals in Shenzhen on 16-21 September.

Paris 2024 Olympic women’s singles gold medallist Zheng will lead hosts China into their quarter-final clash with world champions Italy on Tuesday 16 September. World No. 9 Paolini will spearhead the Italians’ title defence, with veteran Sara Errani – with whom Paolini won the women’s doubles gold medal at Paris 2024 – also in the Italian team.

Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk will lead Ukraine on their Finals debut, with the Ukrainians taking on Spain on Wednesday 17 September. Spain’s tilt for the title will be led by Badosa and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

The quarter-final ties on Thursday 18 September feature four teams with strength in depth. The first tie of the day will see a Kazakhstan squad led by former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina up against a heavyweight American team which includes Pegula, Keys and world No. 11 Emma Navarro.

Meanwhile, four-time major champion Naomi Osaka has been named in Japan’s team alongside Moyuka Uchijima and Ena Shibahara, while Anne Keothavong’s British squad is at full strength, with former US Open champion Emma Raducanu in the team with Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal.

Conchita Martinez, Billie Jean King Cup Finals Tournament Director, said: “This is an incredible line-up of players and we are so excited to see them giving everything for their countries in Shenzhen. This is a truly unique competition and the strength of the team nominations proves how much the players value the chance to try and help their nations become world champions. Fans watching in the stadium and around the world are going to be treated to a very special week of team tennis in September and we can’t wait for it to start.”

All ties at the Finals will be played as best-of-three matches – two singles matches followed by a doubles match. All matches will be played as best-of-three tiebreak sets.

Nations can make up to four changes to their squads until one day prior to the event start date.
