Luciano Darderi captured the title at the Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden on Sunday with a hard-fought victory over unseeded Dutchman Jesper de Jong. The sixth-seeded Italian battled past De Jong 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in an engaging championship match to maintain his perfect record in ATP Tour finals, now 3-0.
Darderi sent down six aces and won 81 per cent of his first-service points. The World No. 55 capitalized on three of his seven break-point chances to prevail after two hours and six minutes.

“It’s amazing. Today I was really nervous from the beginning, even from last night,” revealed Darderi in his on-court interview. “It’s my third ATP title, so at 23 years old it’s really exciting. To be here in Bastad for the first time and to win, it’s unbelievable.”
Darderi, who previously lifted the trophies in Cordoba last year and Marrakech in April, earned €90,675 in prize money as well as 250 ATP Ranking points.
