Jesper de Jong of the Netherlands headlined Friday’s quarterfinal action of the Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden by knocking out his compatriot and No. 2 seed Tallon Griekspoor, 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.
The 25-year-old Haarlem native, a three-time champion on the ATP Challenger Tour, fired 13 aces and won 77 per cent of his first-service points to advance in two hours and 40 minutes.

Up next for de Jong will be Camilo Ugo Carabelli. The fifth-seeded Argentine ended the run of Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic, winning 6-3, 7-5 in one hour and 36 minutes.
In the top half of the draw, Luciano Darderi of Italy cruised past No. 4 seed Sebastian Baez 6-0, 6-2. The 23-year-old and No. 6 seed of the ATP 250 tournament converted five of his eight break-point chances to secure victory in 64 minutes.
Darderi will next play top seed Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina, who was a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 winner over Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The encounter lasted one hour and 46 minutes.
