Turin is once again in the spotlight as the Circolo della Stampa Sporting prepares to host the third edition of the Piemonte Open Intesa Sanpaolo, one of the most prestigious ATP Challenger Tour 175 tournaments on the calendar. With a main draw packed with talent—including ten players ranked inside the Top 100 – the tournament promises world-class tennis and a festival-like atmosphere from the very first serve.

Leading the field is Italian No. 1 Flavio Cobolli, currently ranked No. 34 in the world and coming off his maiden ATP Tour title in Bucharest just weeks ago. After an early exit in Rome at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, the 22-year-old Roman is eager to make a deep run in Turin, hoping to improve on his quarterfinal appearance here in 2023. As one of the top four seeds, Cobolli has a first-round bye and will debut in Thursday’s round of 16.
He’s joined by fellow Italian star Luciano Darderi, World No. 50 and semifinalist last year in Turin, along with Argentina’s Tomas Martín Etcheverry and Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena, all of whom also benefit from byes into the second round.
But the Italian contingent doesn’t end there. Nine home players are in the main draw, making this a celebration of Italian tennis. Among them are Luca Nardi, who faces a tough opener against Argentina’s Mariano Navone; defending champion Francesco Passaro; and crowd favorite Fabio Fognini, who is set for an emotional farewell. The former World No. 9, who lifted his first ATP Challenger trophy in Turin back in 2008, announced that 2025 will be his final season on tour—making this his last appearance in the city where it all began.
Young talents are also in the spotlight, with Matteo Gigante set for a high-octane clash against Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, while Federico Arnaboldi and wild card entries Federico Cinà and Jacopo Vasamì (both born in 2007) showcase the next generation of Italian tennis.
