SAO PAULO, April 25, 2016

Gonzalo Lama is the champion of the $50,000 Sao Paulo Challenger, winning Sunday’s final against US-American teenager Ernesto Escobedo 6-2, 6-2.

The fifth seed from Chile didn’t face a break point, converting four of his own to close the encounter after only 49 minutes. It was the fastest title match on the ATP Challenger Tour this season.

“I am very happy. Winning a Challenger is very difficult. This is my second. I am very happy. I almost lost the match against Juan Ignacio Londero and ended up winning the tournament, so I had a bit of luck too,” the 22-year-old said, earning $7,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points.

On Saturday, Fabricio Neis and Caio Zampieri emerged victorious from the all-Brazilian-doubles final, winning 6-4, 7-6 against Jose Pereira and Alexandre Tsuchiya in one hour and 16 minutes.
