Only one seed made it to the stage of the final four at the second edition of the €42,500 Torino Challenger, as Gastao Elias overcame Hans Podlipnik-Castillo on quarterfinals Friday.

The world number 117 from Portugal, who has already advanced to the semis at the Napoli Challenger two weeks ago, sent down four aces and won 75% of his first service points to secure a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 victory over Chilean after two hours and 40 minutes.

Elias will play Laslo Djere next. The 20-year-old from Serbia held off the good run of Italian wild card Edoardo Eremin, winning 6-3, 6-3. Djere saved the only break point he faced, converting three of his own to advance after 68 minutes.

Filippo Volandri knocked-off eighth seed Kimmer Coppejans 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. The 34-year-old from Livorno won 91 of the total 170 points played to finish the encounter after one hour and 57 minutes.

Volandri will face Enrique López-Pérez, who dismissed Blaz Rola 7-6, 6-2. The world number 300 from Spain saved all four break points he faced and capitalized on two of his three own chances to reach his second consecutive semi-final on the Challenger Tour, following the tournament in Barletta last week.
