M15 Vejle DEN – Ergi Kirkin prevails in Southern Denmark 

The ITF World Tennis Tour returned to Denmark after seven years with the M15 Vejle. The tournament, hosted by the venue of the Vejle Tennis Club, concluded with the title win of Ergi Kirkin.

The 22-year-old from Turkey edged out Argentinian No. 3 seed Matias Zukas in the stage of the last four in straight sets.

August Holmgren from Denmark emerged victorious from the all-Scandinavian semi-final battle against Swedish No. 6 seed Jonathan Mridha in three sets. 

Ankara-born Kirkin won 84 per cent of his first-service points in the championship match and broke his opponent two times to secure a 7-6, 6-4 win after about two hours. The top seed celebrated his fifth title on the Pro Circuit.

After the match, the World No. 400 in ATP Rankings said: “I’m very happy, because it is my fifth title. This week means I’m back playing well and it is always great to win a title. The conditions were tough which makes it even more satisfying. There was a lot of rain during the week and it was quite windy as well. Overall it was a very good organized tournament and I was very happy to be here.

“I stayed a bit more solid in the important moments and maybe I have more matches at this level than he had played, which I think was important because I knew when to make a move and when to play short and so on. That decided the match, I think.”

In the all-Danish doubles final of the wild card entries, Benjamin Hannestad and Carl Emil Overbeck rallied down Johannes Ingildsen and his partner Christian Sigsgaard with 7-6, 4-6, 10-8.

M25 Telavi GEO – Alexandar Lazarov dominates in Georgia 

Florida-born Alexandar Lazarov captured the trophy of the WTT Telavi Open 2021, held at Telavi Tennis Courts, without dropping a set the entire week.

The 23-year-old, who represented Bulgaria in the first edition of the ATP Cup last year, cruised past Alessandro Ingarao from Italy in the stage of the last four in straight sets.

No. 7 seed Aleksandre Metreveli from Georgia knocked off the tournament’s top seed Vladyslav Orlov from the Ukraine in the semi-finals in two sets.

No. 2 seeded Lazarov benefited in the championship match from the retirement of his 27-year-old opponent at the score of 6-1, 1-0 to lift his fourth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M25 Portoviejo ECU – Arklon Huertas del Pino prevails in family affair 

Arklon Huertas del Pino from Lima clinched the title of the M25 Tamarindo Open, hosted by Portoviejo Tenis Club.

The Peruvian qualifier, who was banned from professional tennis for 21 months due to a positive doping, fought past his top seeded countryman Nicolas Alvarez in the stage of the final four in straight sets. tennis

Conner Huertas del Pino, who played college tennis for the Auburn University in Alabama, made it to the all-Peruvian final against his two-year-older brother with a three-set win versus Spanish No. 4 seed Pol Martin Tiffon.

With both players scoring the same numbers of points in the title match, 27-year-old Arklon Huertas del Pino broke his rival six times and lost three service games to succeed 6-1, 6-7, 7-6 after two hours and 31 minutes. The former college player for the University of Indianapolis celebrated his second singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour. 

M25 Denia ESP – Nick Hardt clinches fourth title of the season 

In-form Nick Hardt won the trophy of the Torneo Orysol Ciudad de Denia, held at Club de Tenis Denia.

The No. 4 seed from the Dominican Republic made the last step to the final with a straight-set victory against Spanish No. 8 seed Eduard Esteve Lobato. 

Frenchman Calvin Hemery edged out Spanish wild card entry Carlos Lopez Montagud in the semi-finals in two sets. 

In the championship match with both players gaining two breaks, Santiago de los Caballeros-born Hardt won three points more to claim victory with 7-6, 7-6 after two hours and 32 minutes. The 20-year-old lifted his seventh career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour and his fourth in 2021.

M25 Champaign USA – Teenager Ben Shelton wins maiden title on home soil 

The Neitzel Family Open, hosted by the University of Illinois at Champaign, concluded with the title win of Ben Shelton from the United States. 

The college player for the Florida University knocked off the tournament’s top favourite Yu Hsiou Hsu from Chinese Taipei in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Dutch No. 5 seed Gijs Brouwer battled through the bottom half of the draw, defeating Naoki Nakagawa from Japan in the stage of the final four in three sets.

Eighteen-year-old Shelton, who entered the tournament by wild card, outpointed his rival in the title match 83-73 to triumph 7-6, 6-3 after one hour and 50 minutes. The Gainesville native took his first trophy on the Pro Circuit.

M15 Novi Sad SRB – Filip Misolic captures back-to-back titles 

Following his title win on home soil last week, Filip Misolic captured the trophy of the M15 Novi Sad 1 tournament held at Tennis Club Meridiana. 

The unseeded Austrian advanced to the final with a three-set win against Romanian No. 8 seed Nicolae Frunza.

Italian junior entry Luciano Darderi, who was ranked junior’s World No. 8 and clinched three consecutive J1-category titles in South America 2020, eased past Argentinian No. 7 seed Juan Pablo Paz in the semi-finals in three sets.

Nineteen-year-old Misolic converted five of his six break-point chances by dropping three service games in the title match to celebrate a 6-4, 6-4 win after one hour and 43 minutes. The Graz native lifted his third career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won this season.

M15 Castelo Branco POR – Gilbert Klier Junior with another title on hard court

Gilbert Klier Junior is the champion of the Internacionais de Tenis de Castelo Branco 2021, hosted by Riba Clube.

The 21-year-old won the all-Brazilian semifinal-encounter against No. 4 seeded Joao Lucas Reis da Silva in three sets.

French qualifier Clement Chidekh continued his great run, beating Italian No. 8 seed Luca Giacomini in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Unseeded Klier Junior capitalized on seven of his 10 break-point opportunities in the championship match and lost three service games to seal victory with 6-2, 6-1 in 68 minutes. The Brasilia native celebrated his second career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, his second on hard court.

M15 Monastir TUN – Eliakim Coulibaly triumphs again in Monastir 

Eliakim Coulibaly took the title of the Magic Hotel Tours tournament, held Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir.

The 19-year-old from the Cote d’Ivorie benefited in the semi-finals from the retirement of Australian Jeremy Beale after the first set.

Italian No. 5 seed Luca Potenza defeated South-African teenager Khololwam Montsi in the stage of the final four in straight sets.

Left-handed Coulibaly, who is managed and mentored by two-time Grand-Slam champion Mary Pierce, sent down seven aces and won 74 per cent of his first-service points in the title match to prevail 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 after about three hours. The No. 8 seed celebrated his second singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour following his maiden title at the same place two months ago.

M15 Cairo EGY – Juan Bautista Torres clinches another trophy in Cairo 

Juan Bautista Torres emerged victorious at the Egypt Men’s Future, hosted by the Tennis Club Al-Solaimaneyah in Cairo.

The 19-year-old Argentinian took the last step to the final with a straight-set win versus French No. 5 seed Quentin Folliot. 

No. 4 seeded Alejo Lorenzo Lingua Lavallen set the all-Argentinian final by defeating the tournament’s top favourite Mathieu Perchicot from France in two sets. 

Buenos Aires-born Torres, who reached a junior’s career high at World No. 13, won eight points more in the championship match to claim a 1-6, 6-1, 7-5 win after two hours and 29 minutes. Following his maiden title win at the same place last season, the No. 6 seed lifted his second career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
