M25 Kottingbrunn AUT – Mate Valkusz wins another trophy on clay

Former junior’s World No. 1 Mate Valkusz captured the title at the first edition of the Kottingbrunn Open, hosted by the TC Höllrigl in Lower Austria.

The 22-year-old emerged victorious from the all-Hungarian semi-final clash against his No. 2 seeded compatriot Zsombor Piros in two sets.

Francisco Comesana from Argentina fought through the top half of the draw, defeating Austrian Lenny Hampel in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Unseeded Valkusz won 79 per cent of his first-service points without facing a break point in the championship match to triumph 6-1, 6-2 in 80 minutes. The Budapest native lifted his ninth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on clay.

M25 Gandia ESP – Javier Barranco Cosano triumphs on home soil 

The Orysol ITF Futures Playa del Gandia, held at Club Tenis Gandia, concluded with the title win of clay-court specialist Javier Barranco Cosano. 

The Spanish top seed cruised past his No. 4 seeded countryman Alvaro Lopez San Martin in the stage of the last four in straight sets.

French No. 3 seed Antoine Escoffier booked the spot in the final with a three-set victory against Mariano Kestelboim from Argentina.

Almeria-born Barranco Cosano converted three of his eight break-point chances in the title match without dropping a service game to succeed 6-4, 6-2 in 95 minutes. The 22-year-old lefty celebrated his 10th career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on clay.

M25 Idanha-a-Nova POR – Alejandro Moro Canas clinches his maiden trophy

Alejandro Moro Canas took the title of the Circuito Internacional de Tenis de Idanha-a-Nova II, hosted by Clube de Tenis de Idanha-a-Nova, to lift his first singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

The Spaniard advanced from the semifinal-battle of the qualifiers against Clement Chidekh from France, who plays college tennis for the University of Washington, in two sets.

Simon Carr from Ireland made the last step to the final with a straight-set win versus Brazilian Gilbert Klier Junior.

Twenty-year-old Moro Canas broke his opponent four times in the championship match to secure a 7-6, 6-4 victory after two hours and 22 minutes.

M15 Edwardsville USA – Rinky Hijikata captures back-to-back titles

Following his title win in Monsatir last week, Rinky Hijikata captured the trophy of the Edwardsville Futures, held at Edwardsville High School in Illinois.

The 20-year-old Australian fought past wild card entry Cannon Kingsley from the United States in the stage of the final four in three sets.

The tournament’s third favourite Strong Kirchheimer won the all-US-American semi-final-encounter against his No. 6 seed Christian Langmo in straight sets.

Sydney-born Hijikata capitalized on five of his eight break-point opportunities in the title match and lost one service game to triumph 6-3, 6-1 in 84 minutes. The college player for the University of North Carolina celebrated his third career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Perugia ITA – Andrea Basso returns to winners’ circle

Andrea Basso is the champion of the Torneo Citta di Perugia, hosted by Junior Perugia.

In the all-Italian semi-finals without any seeded players, Genoa-born Basso finished the run of 17-year-old qualifier Gabriele Piraino in two sets.

Luca Nardi battled past Marcello Serafini in the semifinal-clash of the teenagers in straight sets.

Left-handed Basso, who entered the Internazionali BNL d’Italia 2019 by wild card, made one point more in the championship match to prevail 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 after two hours and 31 minutes. The 27-year-old lifted his fourth singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, his first since 2016.

M15 Esch/Alzette LUX – Patrick Kypson prevails on clay again 

The Sudstroum Open Luxembourg, held at Tennis Club Esch, concluded with the title win of Patrick Kypson from the United States.

The 28-year-old stopped the run of Italian qualifier Tommaso Compagnucci in the stage of the last four in straight sets.

Romanian No. 4 seed Nicholas David Ionel battled through the top half of the draw, beating Gabriel Alejandro Hidalgo from Argentina in the semi-finals in two sets.

Unseeded Kypson outpointed his rival in the title match 102-92, to seal a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory after two hours and 46 minutes. The Durham native, who was awarded a main draw wild card into the 2017 US Open by winning the national U18-championships, celebrated his third career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them achieved on clay court.

M15 Cairo EGY – Jose Fco. Vidal Azorin earns maiden title 

Jose Fco. Vidal Azorin clinched the trophy of the Egypt Men’s Future, hosted by the Tennis Club Al-Solaimaneyah in Cairo.

The 28-year-old Spaniard took the last step to the final with a straight-set win versus Oleksandr Ovcharenko from the Ukraine.

Top seeded Frenchman Mathieu Perchicot rallied past German No. 3 seed Kai Wehnelt, who played college tennis for the Utah State University, in the semi-finals in three sets.

No. 2 seeded Vidal Azorin broke his opponent five times and dropped three service games in the championship match of the top two favourites to prevail 7-5, 7-5 after two hours and 21 minutes. The Sax-born lifted his first singles trophy on the Pro Circuit.

M15 Monastir TUN – Santiago Fa Rodriguez Taverna continues his series 

Santiago Fa Rodriguez Taverna emerged victorious at the Magic Hotel Tours tournament, held at Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir. 

The Argentinian top seed edged out Italian No. 3 seed Erik Crepaldi in the stage of the final four in three sets.

The tournament’s second favourite Matias Franco Descotte set the all-Argentinian final with a straight-set victory against Italian No. 8 seed Mattia Bellucci.

Lasting more than three hours, 22-year-old Rodriguez Taverna fired 10 aces and won 78 per cent of his first-service points in the title match of the top two seeds to claim a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win. The Buenos Aires native, who has won one tournament per season since 2018, celebrated his fourth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour and his first on hard court following his three titles on clay.
