Daniel Elahi Galan is the champion of the ninth edition of the Lima Challenger held at the Centro Promotor de Tenis Miraflores in Lima, Peru. The No. 7 seed of the $52,080 clay-court event fought past 19-year-old Thiago Agustin Tirante of Argentina, who appeared in his first ATP Challenger final, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in Sunday’s title match.

Galan, who dropped two sets this week, won 73 per cent of his first-service points and broke the teenager’s serve four times to seal victory in one hour and 52 minutes.

By lifting his second Challenger trophy, following his maiden triumph at 2018 San Benedetto, Italy, Galan took away from Peru’s capital city $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points. The 24-year-old has reached a new career-high at World No. 117.

Galan will conclude his season at the $52,080 Campeonato Internacional de Tenis in Campinas, the final Challenger event held on American soil this year. The Bogota resident will be seeded fourth, opening his title bid against Dutch qualifier Jelle Sels.
