Sock Books Quarterfinal Berth At Indian Wells Challenger

INDIAN WELLS, March 6, 2020

US-American competitors were outstanding at the Oracle Challenger Series – Indian Wells on Thursday and will make up seven of the eight quarter-finalists at the ATP Challenger 125 event. Jack Sock continued his stellar play at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(3) third-round win over Russia’s Evgeny Donskoy.

The World No. 768 struck nine aces and won 74 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after two hours and 22 minutes. Following his victories over Kaichi Uchida from Japan, top seeded Frenchman Ugo Humbert and for the first time since lifting the trophy at the 2017 ATP Masters 1000 in Paris, Sock has won three consecutive matches at a tournament. He will next take on Denis Kudla. The No. 11 seeded US-American upset Italian teen sensation and No. 6 seed Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-2 in two hours and 18 minutes.

Brandon Nakashima defeated No. 6 seed Salvatore Caruso of Italy 6-4, 6-3. The 18-year-old from the United States capitalized on three of his four break point chances to advance in one hour and 18 minutes. Nakashima will join compatriots Marcos GironMitchell KruegerSteve Johnson and Noah Rubin in the stage of the final eight.
