Fabbiano Advances To Tunis Open Semi-Finals

Thomas Fabbiano is the last seeded player standing in the singles draw of the $75,000 Tunis Open. The No. 5 of the ATP Challenger clay-court event held at the Club de Tennis Tunis edged past #NextGenATP Frenchman Corentin Moutet 7-5, 6-2 on Friday to advance to the semi-finals.

Fabbiano converted four of his seven break point chances to prevail after one hour and 27 Minutes. The 28-year-old from San Giorgio will next take on Daniel Gimeno-Traver. The 32-year-old Spaniard emerged victorious from the all-qualifier-encounter with Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-2. Gimeno-Traver saved all five break points he faced, winning 65 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in only 55 minutes.

Guido Andreozzi knocked off the tournament’s No. 2 Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia 6-1, 6-2. The 26-year-old Argentine outpointed his opponent 61-40 in one hour and 13 minutes. Andreozzi will next play Joao Domingues of Portugal, who benefited from the retirement of his compatriot and No. 7 seed Pedro Sousa at 4-6, 3-1.
