Copil Opens Roland Garros Qualifying Campaign

Top-seeded Romanian Marius Copil leads the charge of the 128 men, who started to fight for one of 16 spots in the men’s draw at Roland Garros 2017 as the qualifying competition got underway on Monday.

The World No. 93 fought past #NextGenATP star Denis Shapovalov from Canada, winning 6-0, 4-6, 6-2. Copil will next take Ilya Ivashka from Belarus, who beat Kimmer Coppejans from Belgium 6-2, 6-2.

Fourth seed Taro Daniel emerged victorious from the all-Japanese-affair, winning 7-6, 6-0 over Hiroki Moriya. Next up for Daniel will be Matija Pecotic of Croatia.
