MONZA/STARNBERG, March 3, 2026
The 2026 edition of the Atkinsons Monza Open is set to raise the bar significantly, building on last year’s fairytale debut with greater ambition, investment, and a deeper connection to the city. The ATP Challenger tournament, hosted by Villa Reale Tennis, will take place from Easter Sunday through April 12 and will be upgraded from category 100 to 125, increasing both prestige and ranking points for the champion.
The growth goes beyond sporting status. Prize money will exceed €200,000, and the event’s overall scale and organization have been enhanced. One of the most visible innovations will be the transformation of the hospitality area into a true Fan Village. In addition to the club grounds, activities will extend into the nearby Boschetti Reali, the public park linking Monza’s city center to Villa Reale Tennis. The expanded village will feature street food, entertainment, pickleball courts, music, and interactive activities designed to immerse fans in the atmosphere of the “Royal Tennis Show.”
Inside the venue, logistics have been redesigned to improve the spectator and partner experience. Seating capacity has been increased across all three match courts, responding to the repeated sell-outs during the first edition. The Center Court will now accommodate more than 1,000 spectators and host the tournament’s headline matches.
Another major milestone is national television coverage: the final three days of competition will be broadcast live on Sky Sport, placing the Monza Open alongside some of tennis’s most prestigious events, including Wimbledon and the Nitto ATP Finals. In addition, all main-draw matches will be streamed live on the free Challenger TV platform.

City officials highlighted the tournament’s importance for Monza’s sporting identity. Mayor Paolo Pilotto emphasized the city’s growing international sporting profile and the value of grassroots sports for younger generations. Sports Councillor Viviana Guidetti underlined how the new Fan Village will strengthen the bond between the city and the tournament.
Cristiano Crippa, President of Villa Reale Tennis, expressed pride in organizing the second edition, noting the strong support from local and national sponsors. Tournament Director Giorgio Tarantola described the rapid upgrade to category 125 as a significant achievement, placing Monza among a select group of roughly 30 tournaments worldwide at that level. A title in Monza, he pointed out, will carry more ranking weight than a semifinal at an ATP 250, a quarterfinal at an ATP 500, or a round-of-16 finish at a Masters 1000.
The event will feature a 32-player singles main draw, preceded by qualifying with 24 players competing for six spots, as well as a 16-team doubles draw. Entry to the grounds will be free from April 5 to April 10, with tickets required for the final weekend.
