OBERHACHING, February 7, 2026
The 2026 Dunlop Bavarian Junior Winter Championships came to a close on Friday at the TennisBase Oberhaching, with the singles finals of the ITF J200 junior world ranking event deciding the champions in both draws. In the girls’ final, Stuttgart’s Mariella Thamm lived up to her top-seed status with a commanding victory over Latvia’s Adelina Lacinova, while in the boys’ final Jan Sadzik benefited from an injury retirement by compatriot Aleksander Blus in the third set of an all-Polish showdown.
Thamm in full control
As the No. 1 seed, 16-year-old Mariella Thamm entered the girls’ final against seventh seed Adelina Lacinova as the favorite—and she delivered from the first ball. With excellent depth on her groundstrokes and a strong serving performance, Thamm kept her opponent under constant pressure and raced through the opening set without dropping a game.
Lacinova, 17, found her footing early in the second set and held serve for the first time, but Thamm remained firmly in control and built a 5–1 lead. The Latvian showed resilience, breaking back when Thamm served for the match and saving three match points, yet Thamm did not let the opportunity slip again. She closed out a convincing 6–0, 6–3 victory in 70 minutes.
“I felt a bit more tired today than yesterday, but I still played a very solid match from the start,” Thamm said afterward. “At 5–1 in the second set and with three match points, I could have finished it quicker, but she played really well there. After the Australian tournaments didn’t go quite as I hoped, I’m even happier to win the title here and hope to take this momentum to the ITF W75 in Altenkirchen.”
With her triumph in Oberhaching, the Australian Open participant claimed her first title of the season and the eighth of her ITF World Tennis Tour career. Thanks to the 200 ranking points from the singles title and additional points from doubles alongside Isabella Abendroth, Thamm will return to the junior Top 30 next week.
Sadzik benefits from Blus retirement
The boys’ final between Aleksander Blus and Jan Sadzik held few secrets, with the two Poles also having reached the doubles final together earlier in the week. The match started as a fast-paced, open contest. After a first set full of breaks of serve, Blus, the No. 2 seed, edged a tight tiebreak.
Momentum shifted in the second set, as sixth seed Sadzik found his rhythm and leveled the match. Unfortunately, the deciding set was cut short: with Sadzik leading 7–6(7), 3–6, 1–0, Blus twisted his right ankle during a rally and, despite treatment on court, was unable to continue.
Sadzik thus secured his fourth ITF World Tennis Tour title—his biggest to date after three category 60 titles in 2024—and the victory will lift him into the Top 100 of the junior world rankings for the first time.
German success in doubles
Both doubles finals were played on Thursday. In the boys’ doubles, Augsburg’s Jaron Held and Patrick Moise defeated the Polish duo of Blus and Sadzik 6–0, 7–5. The German pair dominated the opening set and, after leading 4–1 in the second, held their nerve following a brief comeback to seal the title.
In the girls’ doubles, Mariella Thamm and Hamburg’s Isabella Abendroth added another trophy for Germany, defeating Switzerland’s Elsa Bonelli and Noelia Manta 6–3, 6–4 in a controlled performance.
The Dunlop Bavarian Junior Winter Championships marked the start of a two-week ITF double-header in Oberhaching, followed by the men’s TennisBase Open, which celebrate their 10th anniversary this year.
